From Not Ready for Prime-Time to Standing in the Check-Out Line; Chevy Chase Goes Grocery Shopping With The AFLAC Duck
PRNewswire-FirstCall
COLUMBUS, Ga.

Instead of going on another wild Vacation this summer, Chevy Chase is heading to the corner grocer. The comedian and former pratfall star of Saturday Night Live and dozens of major motion pictures has an exciting new co-star, the AFLAC Duck.

In the latest spot entitled "Supermarket," the story begins when Chevy is recognized by two fellow shoppers who enthusiastically ask him to fall down. Chevy politely explains that he doesn't do that anymore, saying "After all, it's not like I've got that insurance." Try as he might, Chevy is unable to recall the elusive name of "that insurance that pays you cash when you can't work." Enter the AFLAC Duck who promptly gets Chevy's attention, by dropping a box of Wheaties on Chevy's head and proclaiming "AFLAAAAAC!"

This action packed adventure features a series of hilarious mishaps as Chevy makes his way down the aisles and winds up being the only thing left standing in the store.

This commercial is the sixteenth spot in the AFLAC Duck campaign series created by the Kaplan Thaler Group. Dan Amos, Chairman and CEO of AFLAC will debut this spot on CNBC's "Wake-Up Call" on May 6, 2003. The commercial will air nationally immediately following the broadcast and throughout the summer months.

Since the campaign debuted just over three years ago, a growing number of celebrities have worked with the AFLAC Duck. The Duck has stared along side baseball legend Yogi Berra, singer Wayne Newton and the Amazing Kreskin. People Magazine recently featured an article that helped readers distinguish between movie star Ben Affleck and the famous AFLAC Duck.
